Behind the Scenes at a Vive en Blanc Wedding Reception
There’s something really special about watching a wedding unfold from behind the lens. As photographers, we’re there for all the big moments—the laughter, the speeches, the dancing—but with Vive en Blanc, we also get to witness something more subtle: the quiet confidence of someone stepping in front of the camera, fully present, fully themselves.
We recently brought our Vive en Blanc portrait station to a wedding reception in Northeast Pennsylvania, and I wanted to share a little of what it’s like behind the scenes—because this isn’t your typical photo booth.
A Studio Setup in the Middle of the Party
The vibe of the reception was laid-back and joyful—string lights, open bar, family hugging after years apart. In one corner of the room, though, something different was happening.
We’d set up our mobile portrait station: a clean white backdrop, soft directional lighting, and just enough space for guests to step in, pause, and be photographed with intention. There were no props, no silly poses. Just real people, looking their best, caught in timeless black and white.
What surprised us most was how comfortable people became. Even those who initially said, “Oh no, I’m not photogenic,” ended up smiling—sometimes even tearing up—when they saw their print a few minutes later.
Photographing Every Guest, One Portrait at a Time
Throughout the night, we photographed grandparents arm-in-arm, college friends with champagne in hand, couples laughing in their formalwear, and solo guests in their best outfits. Each portrait was printed on-site and handed directly to the guest before they left the event.
It was amazing to watch the ripple effect. One person would walk away holding their photo, and within minutes, three others would say, “Okay… I have to do that too.”
The portraits became part of the celebration—a chance to pause in the middle of the chaos and walk away with something real.
A Gift for the Guests, and a Keepsake for the Couple
What many people don’t realize is that Vive en Blanc isn’t just for the guests—it’s a gift for the couple too.
After the wedding, the bride and groom received a complete gallery of every portrait we captured that night. It wasn’t just pictures of the two of them—it was a visual archive of everyone who came to support them, dressed beautifully, feeling joyful, frozen in time.
As wedding photographers, we’re used to seeing the love between two people. But this gallery? It showed the love that surrounded them.
Why It Feels Different
There are a lot of ways to document a wedding day: traditional photography, video, candid phone shots, photo booths. But Vive en Blanc has become something different. It’s not about coverage—it’s about presence.
It’s about giving guests a chance to be captured intentionally. It’s about giving couples a deeper view of their wedding day—one that includes everyone they invited, celebrated, and made memories with.
If you’re planning a wedding in Scranton, Clarks Summit, or anywhere in Northeast PA, and you’re looking for something elevated, elegant, and quietly unforgettable—we’d love to tell you more about Vive en Blanc.
